Year 5/6 Open Evening

On Thursday 16th October 2014 at 7:00pm we will be hosting our Open Evening for Year 5/6 parents and students.  There will be a brief meeting in the main hall at 7:00pm followed by guided tours around school to see our fantastic facilities.  All parents and children will be able to see the exciting opportunities/displays in each department and be able to talk to our staff and pupils.

Well done to Jessica Roberts, Amy Thomas and Lauren Evans who each swam 1000m for Swim Britain in order to raise monies for various charities. Good work girls!

Steffi Leigh, Year 9 selected for World Cheerleading Championships in Florida 2015

Steffi Leigh, a year 9 pupil is a competitive Allstar Cheerleader who has been competing with her team RSD for the last 5 years and of course was a part of the school team last year. She has been the Welsh Cheer Solo (tumbling) champion for the last 3 years and holds numerous National Champion titles with her teams. Earlier this year she attended trials for the Team Wales squad that will compete at the World Championships in Florida in 2015. Steffi has made the team and is the second youngest ever to do so.  Good Luck Steffi!

Abigail Protheroe competes in British Tumbling NDP Finals

Congratulations to Abigail Protheroe, Year 7 for winning a silver medal in the British Tumbling NDP Finals.

Attached is a photo of Abigail with her winning medal and the 3 medals from the Qualifying rounds and British semi's.  Well done!

Intermediate and Junior Mathematical Challenge update

30 Year 10 students took the Intermediate Mathematical Challenge in February 2014. Of those, three achieved a Bronze award. They were Lucy Clare, Connor Brown and Ben Attwood. The highest mark in the school was achieved by Ben Attwood.

The Maths Junior Challenge held in May 2014 was attended by 30 x Year 8 and 7 pupils, Iestyn Brown achieved the Gold award and Jessica Clare, Miguel Trio, Clarizza Ranola and Daniel Daly all achieved the Bronze award.  Jessica Clare achieved the highest mark in Year 8 and Iestyn Brown achieved the highest mark for 'Best in School' and 'Best in Year 7'.

The UK Mathematics Trust (UKMT) is a registered charity whose aim is to advance the education of children and young people in mathematics. The UKMT organises national mathematics competitions and other mathematical enrichment activities for 11-18 year old UK school pupils. We were established in 1996 and last academic year over 600,000 pupils from 4,000 schools took part in the three individual challenges, the UK's biggest national maths competitions.
