Year 12 Welsh visit to Glan Llyn
by Mrs K Davies - Friday, 21 November 2014, 10:26 AM

Cafodd blwyddyn 12 a Miss Lewis amser anhygoel yng Nglan-Llyn ar ddechrau'r wythnos. Roedd y cwrs yn llawn dop gyda gweithdai, gweithgareddau, darlithoedd a siarad, pob un yn ddefnyddiol iawn. Mae pawb wedi blino siwr o fod ond wedi cael amser arbennig o dda. Rydyn ni wedi cael cyflei fynd i dŷ Hedd Wyn (y bardd enwog) ac wedi gweld y cadeiriau ennillodd e yn yr eisteddfodau ac hefyd wedi cwrdd â nai Hedd Wyn, Gerald. Gweld sioe yun y theatre - SXTIO, siopa yn y Bala, sawl darlith ar farddoniaeth y cwrs, darlith ar ffilmiau gyda Elain Price (Prifysgol Abertawe), cwrs newyddiaduraeth(Owain Schiavone), gweithdŷ iaith ac idiomau, gweithdŷ yn ffilmio (Eilir Pierce), gwneud cartŵnau (Huw Aaron) a beatbocsio (Ed Holden), Twmpath gyda Mr Shurey. Popeth yn gysylltiedig â'r cwrs lefel A. Ddim llawer o amser i gysgu yn anffodus felly roedd Charlotte yn chwyrnu ar y bws adre. Profiad anhygoel yn bendant.

Year 12 and Miss Lewis had an amazing time in Glan-Llyn at the start of the week. Everyone is tired out but have had an excellent time. A course full to the brim. We have been to Hedd Wyn's house ( the famous poet) and seen the chairs he won in the Eisteddfods as well as met his nephew, Gerald. Seen a show in the theatre - SXTIO, shopping in Bala, a number of lectures on the poetry of the course, a lecture on Welsh Film (Dr Elain Price, Swansea University), a journalism course (Owain Schiavone), a language and idiom workshop, a workshop filming (Eilir Pierce), creating cartoons (Huw Aaron) and beat boxing (Ed Holden), twmpath with Mr Shurey. Everything linked with the course. Not a lot of time to sleep unfortunately so Charlotte was snoring on the bus home. Definitely an excellent experience.

Sylwadau'r disgyblion -(Pupil Comments)
Charlotte - Bydda i'n dod blwyddyn nesaf yn bendant yn mlwyddyn 13. ( I will come next year in year 13 for definite)

Megan - Rydyn ni wedi dysgu llawer am rannau gwahanol y cwrs. Gwerthfawr iawn. ( We have learnt lots about different parts of the course. Very Valuable

Schools Welsh Cup: Update on U14s Football
by Mrs K Davies - Tuesday, 7 October 2014, 08:56 AM

The U14s Boys Football team were unlucky to lose to Brynteg 4 - 2 in the first round of the Schools Welsh Cup. In a game where there were chances galore for both teams, it was the quality of finishing and a degree of luck that prevented the Archbishop McGrath team from progressing.
After conceding in the first few minutes, the confidence of the team was low and they soon found themselves three goals down soon after. From there on it was an uphill battle. One which looked like being overcome as Archbishop piled on the pressure, grabbing one back and looking a different team. Having had one shot hit the cross bar and another cleared off the line with the Brynteg goalkeeper beaten, the tide seemed to have turned. Numerous chances were missed and unfortunately nothing seemed to want to go in.
Little changed in the way of luck in the second half with a goal disallowed for offside and the cross bar struck again. In spite of all the Archbishop pressure, Brynteg scored on the counter attack to make it 4 - 1. Archbishop soon pulled one back with a fine chip over the keeper to make it 4 - 2, but it was too little too late as the game finished shortly after.
